Description
Timeless features fundamental to human life, namely sustenance and healthcare, currently display significant systemic problems. Both sectors are presently undergoing transitions in the United States and elsewhere, and citizens and entrepreneurs can employ creative solutions to enhance improvement strategies. This analysis explores historic costs and benefits of the traditional agricultural cooperative business structure and applies the lens of social entrepreneurship. This research includes a literature review of cooperative theory, case studies for several contemporary herbal companies and farming cooperatives, and a specific business model for a potential herbal growers' cooperative in Florida. This model, the Florida Herbal Growers Cooperative, attempts to marry agrarian ethics with modern tools to meet systemic challenges.
